turquoise & green

Happy that I got my self organized enough to do another Color Hues Challenge.  This time it's a combo that I love - turquoise and green.  I got out some Tim Holtz dies and went super CAS for this one (the gem in the right corner is green - it's hard to see). The Abstract Element dies are so fun to play with. The design team over there knocked it out of the park too - love all of their creations!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

regal red

I was over the moon when I saw JoAnn's theme for this week's Seize the Birthday challenge.  It's RED! It's my favourite colour. I went very CAS so the red would shine - the splotches remind me a bit of flower petals.  The sentiment is one I love but haven't used it for a while. Hope you like what I've come up with.

Colour Hues - Lilac & Mint

For some reason, I seem to gravitate towards colour challenges that will REALLY challenge me. This time it's lilac and mint from Colour Hues.  I don't have any trouble with the darker purples and greens but this pastel combo is challenging!  Used some Distress Oxides to make a smooshed watercolour background, and then stayed CAS with the rest ... hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great day.  I appreciate your comments.

sassy splatter

Happy Thursday crafty friends! It's my turn to pick the theme at Seize the Birthday.  I went for something fun and easy - splatter! I decided to do some rainbow splatter with my Distress Oxide inks.  I was having trouble figuring out how to finish the card (there were a few different starts) and was then inspired by this card by my friend Cheiron.

falling

Welcome to Seize the Birthday's last challenge of 2023. Wow! So hard to believe. It's been another fun year and I look forward to all the fun challenges in 2024.

Barbara has chosen fall stuff for our challenge this week. I have some long retired pumpkin stamps that I pulled out for this.  I used some Distress Oxides with some water & paint brush and 'painted' right on the stamp.  I love how they turned out and made a few more cards similar to this for some fall birthdays.

Be sure to pop over to the blog (where it's a bit of a pumpkin fest!) to check the rest of the fabulous creations and give some love to our  Surprise Party Guest Loll and previous winner Lisa K.

natural neutrals

So hard to believe it's November! It's all about neutrals (white, black, grey, kraft, brown, cream, gold, and silver) at Seize the Birthday this week, thanks to Ashwini. I have soooo many patterned paper scraps so I decided to just make a neutral background out of a few of them.

starry sky

We are looking skyward at Seize the Birthday this week.  Vicki chose 'add a sky'.  I am not very good at making scenes so I just decided to do a starry sky.  I blended some Distress Oxide inks and then did some white splatter.  Pretty happy with how it turned out!

hot pink & lime

Happy crafty Thursday friends! For Seize the Birthday this week, Shirley has chosen the colour combo hot pink & lime.  If you visit here often you know that my relationship with pink is a little tenuous - lol.  However, I love green and do like pink and green together.  I picked up these cone flower dies recently (thanks to seeing how well Nancy uses it!). Tried to keep this pretty CAS - brushed some Distress Oxide on to the pink card stock to give it a little more depth. The leaves are Distress Oxide ink on white card stock.

Be sure to pop over to the blog to check the rest of the bold creations and give some love to our Surprise Party Guest Stephanie and previous winner Karen.

regal repetition

It's another crafty Thursday for the Seize the Birthday team. Nancy has chosen repetitive die cuts and I *might* have bought this new die with this card in mind. ;) I must confess that I just LOVE how this turned out and sent to a good friend whose birthday was yesterday. (I did NOT love all of the gluing that was involved though - lol). The leaves are patterned paper and the colour on the petals is just some quickly brushed Distress Oxide ink.

Be sure to pop over to the blog to check the rest of the resplendent creations and give some love to our Surprise Party Guest Stephanie and previous winner Johanna.

Color Hues - Lindsey's Legacy Hop

Hey crafty friends,

Today, I'm honoured to be joining a very special challenge with the team at Color Hues!

In conjunction with their normal colour challenge, The Color Hues Design Team and a few guests (like me), from their sister challenge Seize the Birthday, are participating in a Blog Hop!

Collectively as a team, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend, fellow card maker, and Design Team member, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

The purpose of this hop will be to honor Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as spread the word to raise funds for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research.

How can you Help? You can find all the fabulous details and the start of the hop HERE!

In honor of Lindsey, the team has created a variety of cards using her favourite colour combo of Purple and Red. (I love these colours too!) Lindsey was a team mate but also a friend - was so fortunate to be able to meet her & her husband a few times in person. Miss her a lot.... I made a card in her honour that I know she'd appreciate.

Thanks so much for joining us!

Take care,
Glenda

p.s. This is one of two posts that I've done today in honour of Lindsey. Here's the other one.

Lindsey's Legacy Hop

Welcome to those who've come from Tracey's blog....

Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband Burke thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The purpose of this hop will be to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research.  You can help in one of several ways!

1. Purchase a Flat Rate Mailer stuffed with loads of fabulous craft supplies.  These can only be mailed within Canada and there will be no tax receipts provided with the purchase of these boxes.  A box of craft supplies would make a great gift for yourself, a crafty friend or a child/classroom!  For details about the boxes and how you can go about purchasing one, please email lindseyslegacyfund@rogers.com with the message "Craft Box" or visit Lindsey’s original blog, Bashful Blogging.  Every craft box purchase in September will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Scrap ‘n Stamp.

2. During the month of September, shop at Scrap ‘n Stamp using the code LINDSEY10 at checkout.  You will get 10% off your purchase (sale items excluded) and Scrap ‘n’ Stamp will donate 10% of their proceeds to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund.

3. Any donations over $15 made directly to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund will receive a digital tax receipt.
4. Repost this hop on your social media and encourage others to share!

Lindsey’s Legacy Hop begins at my wonderful friend Emily Leiphart’s blog.  If you get lost along the way, please return to Emily’s blog where she will have the entire hop list.

How to hop:
💙 Like and leave a comment at each stop
💙 Learn a little bit about Lindsey’s connection to that person
💙 Share this post and help us save lives

Emily introduced me to Lindsey as Lindsey would frequently travel to my neck of the woods to visit family.  I was so lucky to meet Lindsey and her husband Burke in person a few times and we stayed connected through crafting.  She also joined our Seize the Birthday design team.  She was such an amazing person and I feel luck to have known her.  We were known to have cocktails together when she was visiting so I made a cocktail card in her honour (and CASED one of hers). I miss her ... this hop makes me happy and sad too.

The next stop on the hop is the wonderful Carol. Please be sure to leave a comment at each of the stops where you can learn more about Lindsey’s life, loves and her legacy.

Thanks so much for hopping with us!

Glenda
p.s. I'm also hopping along as part of Color Hues so this is one of two posts today to honour Lindsey.

fabulous fall

Welcome to September at Seize the Birthday Linda has chosen fall colours as our topping this week. Admittedly, fall is not my favourite season (summer lover here) but do love the colours that come with the season.  Normally I would do red, orange and yellow but decided to go a little non-traditional with this card. I was inspired by this card by Ardyth.

Be sure to head over to the blog to welcome our new Surprise Party Guest Stephanie - super excited to have her join us as I've admired her crafting for years! Also give some love to the fabulous creations that the rest of the team has created.

Another thing that I do like about fall is all the great produce - we are lucky to have lots of local growers close by where I live plus the wee bit I grow at home. Yum!

Have a terrific and a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by,
Glenda
